The Wheel. The Internet. Then AI.

Is AI the Biggest Productivity Multiplier of All Time?

I’ve been chewing on this…

What if AI ends up being the most powerful productivity tool in human history? Like, more than the wheel, electricity, or the internet?

I know that sounds big. But stick with me.

Think about the stuff we usually put at the top of that list:

  • The wheel — got us moving
  • Agriculture — created civilization
  • Electricity — lit up the world
  • The internet — connected it

Those are no joke. They didn’t just make things better… they changed what was even possible.

But AI? It’s not just a new tool.

It’s a tool that makes itself better.

That’s a first.

Here’s what makes AI feel like a different animal:

1. It gets smarter every time you use it

Everything else just… works. AI learns. It adjusts. It evolves. It literally builds better versions of itself. That’s wild.

2. It removes the skill gap

You don’t need to be a dev or designer anymore. You just need an idea and a vibe. AI handles the rest. Thought becomes output.

3. It accelerates everything

Writing. Coding. Scheduling. Designing. Planning. Selling. It’s not just one thing—it’s everything, on double speed.

And I’m not just saying that. At Hotlist AI, I’ve helped people get back 20+ hours a week, close more deals, and automate the parts of their business they hate dealing with.

It works.

But what happens when this gets into everyone’s hands?

That’s where it gets really interesting.

When billions of people can create with no friction—no gatekeepers, no tech skill required—what kind of world do we get?

New businesses.
New art.
New types of jobs.
Maybe even new forms of society?

It’s a lot.

But yeah… it also makes people nervous

Totally fair. I’ve wondered it too.

  • Do we still care about human-made stuff?
  • Do we stop valuing creativity once AI can do it all?
  • Do we even know what’s real anymore?

I don’t think AI replaces the human part of life.
Not the heart. Not the art. Not the messiness that makes stuff feel alive.

Watching Messi dribble >>> watching a robot score.

But when it comes to function? Info? Scaling?
AI is going to eat everything.

Final thought

The internet gave everyone a voice.
AI gives everyone a studio.

We’re still early. But if this really is the beginning of something as big as electricity or farming… then it’s not just about the tech.

It’s about the side effects.
The weird new behaviors.
The stuff we can’t even predict yet.

Anyway, that’s what’s been bouncing around in my brain lately.

Curious what you think.
